It's Beginning to Smell a Lot Like Autumn!

Well, Mabon is right around the corner. Summer is coming to an end. The grass has slowed its growth, the summer flowers have begun dying back and the fall crops are coming in. All in all the garden didn't do as well as it did last year, although I did get enough produce to sustain me all summer long. Goddess bless, I got what I needed... really, what more could I ask for?

As I prepare for Mabon, I have begun gathering my herbs to allow them to dry. My jars are getting full. This weekend, I'll make my sage smudges with sage, rosemary and thyme. I'll also start trimming my grapevines and begin making wreaths to give to friends for Yule. This year, I'll even make pentacles out of the vines to have in the center of the wreaths.

I'll also begin working on pinecone feeders for the birds... a perfect decoration to hang around the yard. I also have loads of saved grease to start making homemade suet blocks. Birds are affluent in my yard due to the fact that I leave blueberries on the bush, grapes on the vine and figs in the tops of the trees. There really is no need to fill the feeders until December or so. I did grow sunflowers this year, so they too will be placed in the yard to feed the Cardinals that we hold so dear!

Here's some action on our hummingbird feeders!
